Introducing Easy OKR 3.0: Simpler, Faster, More Powerful
Today we're rolling out Easy OKR 3.0, the biggest update we've shipped since launch. We didn't build this release around a long list of new features. We built it around a single question we ask ourselves before every change: does this make OKRs easier for someone who has never used them before? If the answer was no, it didn't make the cut.
Faster Setup, Fewer Decisions
The number one piece of feedback we hear from new customers is that most OKR tools ask you to make too many decisions before you've even written your first Objective. Cycle length, weighting rules, scoring scales, permission structures. In 3.0, we simplified initial setup down to the essentials: your organization's name, your first cycle, and your teams. Everything else uses sensible defaults you can change later, but most organizations never need to. It's the same principle Nielsen Norman Group calls progressive disclosure: show people only the most important options up front, and keep the rest out of the way until they ask for it.
In practice, this means a small team can go from signing up to having their first Objectives and Key Results written in a single sitting, instead of spending a week configuring the tool before anyone touches it.
Cleaner Dashboards
We rebuilt the main dashboard from the ground up. The goal was to answer one question at a glance: are we on track this quarter? Previous versions showed a lot of detail up front. The new dashboard leads with a simple status view of every Objective, and lets you drill into the numbers only when you want more detail. Less scrolling, less squinting at dense tables, more clarity about where attention is actually needed.
Simpler Check-ins
Weekly check-ins are where most OKR tools lose people. If updating your Key Results takes ten minutes per person, teams stop doing it after a few weeks. We rebuilt the check-in flow so updating a Key Result takes a few seconds: enter the new value, add a short note if you want, done. We also added smarter reminders that adjust based on how your team actually works, instead of firing off the same generic email every Monday regardless of whether anyone reads it. For more on why this matters, see our post on weekly check-ins that work.
A Better Mobile Experience
A large share of check-ins happen from a phone, often between meetings. 3.0 includes a redesigned mobile experience that makes updating a Key Result, leaving a comment, or reviewing your team's progress just as fast as it is on desktop. No more pinching and zooming through tables that were clearly designed for a laptop screen.
Why We Built It This Way
Our whole reason for existing is to be the easiest OKR tool on the market. Not the one with the most features, the one with the least friction. Every organization we talk to already knows OKRs can help them. The reason many give up isn't the framework, it's the tooling around it: too much setup, too much admin, too much time spent updating a tool instead of doing the work. 3.0 is a direct response to that. We removed steps, simplified screens, and cut down the time it takes to keep your OKRs current, without stripping out the parts that actually make OKRs useful, like alignment across teams and clear ownership of every Key Result.
What's Next
This release reflects months of conversations with organizations of every size, from five-person startups to companies with hundreds of employees. We're going to keep listening. If there's something that still feels harder than it should be, tell us. Simplicity isn't a one-time feature. It's something we have to keep earning with every release.
